Fly Fishing Vacation

Fly Fishing Vacation – A Beautiful Way to Relax Any Time of the Year

Fly-fishing is a very old style of fishing, which was first used to catch salmon. The method needs to be learned and practiced to be applied correctly – but all the effort that goes into it is worth it because it gives such a lot of joy in the end.

Fly-Fishing Style Is Distinct From Other Types of Fishing

The basics of fly-fishing is centered on how you can lure a fish using simulation of false bait, mostly in the form of artificial flies – hence, the name of ‘fly-fishing’. These flies are made of colorful materials, i.e. feathers, thread, etc and are almost weightless. The line of the fly-fishing rods are heavier in comparison compensating for the weightlessness of the flies. The fly will be thrown in the current freely because of its lack of weight, while it is kept in position by the weight of the line – the result is that the fly looks like it is moving skimming on the water thus attracting the fish to it.

This is a very exciting way to fish and there are many fly fishing vacation destinations across the globe, which are well known. In order to get the best information, you can always use the Internet for guidance. In the meantime, some of the best locations are briefly described hereunder:

1. New Zealand – This is a great place to go in the winter (since the seasons on US are opposite to those of New Zealand’s). Nicknamed as the ‘Angler’s El Dorado’ the Zane Grey, is an excellent spot for a fly fishing vacation. Look it up next time you need a vacation.

2. Norway – There is a tiny place in Norway called Alta where you could enjoy your fly fishing vacation. Though the place is small, there is nothing diminutive about the salmon that swims in these waters. In fact, the salmon here can be easily branded as the best catch in the world.

3. United Kingdom – have you read the book, ‘The Complete Angler’ by Izaak Walton? Well, if you did and if you want to see the spot that inspired the book, take the trouble to travel to Hampshire, UK. You will enjoy your fly fishing vacation even more while thinking about your favorite book.

4. Canada – another excellent fly fishing vacation location is Labrado in Canada. This area is world famous to catch trout, which is also known as ‘brookie’ or speckled trout.

5. Argentine – there is wonderfully picturesque place in Argentine by the name of Tierra del Fuego. The plentiful fish and the excellent scenery can astound you here. This is indeed paradise on earth for both the amateur and veteran angler because you will find a great variety of trout, i.e. brown, rainbow and brook among others and you can try out your skills at catching them.
